GCAP will correct mistakes of the past – Nornoo
GCAP Project Co-ordinator, Mr Charles Nornoo, has given traditional authorities and farmers of Torgorme in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, the assurance that the project would correct mistakes of the past the hope that their needs would be catered for when the scheme becomes operational.
Mr Nornoo said this during a meeting between the World Bank, GCAP/GIDA and WAPCOS at Torgorme, when the Omankrado complained of lack of access roads to the project area and no channels through which water could pass to their farms.
Togbui Gidi bemoaned the taking away of farmlands from some of the community’s members with the promise that they would be given part of land rent when the project takes off but this never happened. These landless people now have nowhere to farm and they do not receive rent payments either.
